Troop Furnished Equipment:

Troop 454 has a very well equipped Troop Trailer that we take on most campouts. In the trailer we carry:

    • Troop Tents (rated 4-man, but comfortably sleep 2 or 3), dining flys, & tarps
    • Cooking Gear (every thing needed for preparing meals and cleanup)
    • Propane Stoves and Lanterns
    • Folding Tables and Chairs
    • First Aid Kits
    • Cooking Supplies (spices & staple foods, paper towels, foil, etc.)
    • Supplies (propane, rope, duct tape, tool kit, emergency equipment)
    • Axes, Saws, Shovels, etc.
    • Ice Chests and Action Packers

Personal Equipment for Troop Campouts:

A Word About Knives - Scouts never need to bring axes, hatchets, or very large folding knives, or sheath (non-folding) knives.  Small folding knives are allowed, but only after the scout has earned his Totin' Chit.

    • sleeping bag
    • sleeping pad
    • clothing appropriate for the season (including unexpected weather)
    • personal cup, knife, fork and spoon
    • canteen -or- water bottle
    • small flashlight and/or electric lantern for in tent use

Additional Personal Equipment for Backpack Camping:

Once or twice a year, the troop does a backpack trip where the scouts must carry all of their equipment to the campsite. Weight is an important factor when you have to carry all of this stuff by yourself on your back.

    • Backpack (see our online Library for links to useful information)
    • Good hiking boots.
    • Lightweight Backpacking Tent (optional - scouts can share)
    • A lightweight camp stove (optional - scouts can share)
    • Water Purifier (optional - scouts can share)

Additional Personal Equipment for Annual Trip:

Each year, the troop takes a week-long trip. Prior to the trip, a detailed list will distributed with details about what to bring. In general, scouts will need the following additional items:

    • Folding Cot
    • Footlocker
    • Daypack for En route
